Kali 1.0.8 EFI dual boot black screen

    Hi everyone,
Installed 1.08 with windows 8.1 dual boot on different hard drives. I am running MSI laptop with Intel HD 4600 and Nvidia Geforce GTX860M.
I did have a prior install with Nvidia drivers but I booted USB and deleted the old install partition which had same issue so this is a fresh install without nvidia drivers.
After installer finishes I get the GRUB menu and select Kali or Kali recovery and it says loading linux and then goes to a black screen with NO blinking cursor so I cannot do Ctrl Alt F1.
I can get to GRUB e menu where I can edit the grub command. I tried adding the modeset = 0 but no difference.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi there,

Few things. Did you manually partition Kali or select use continuous free space?

Do you have efi and legacy boot enabled? (I've heard some computers can do both)

    Is windows 8 efi?

Can you either take a screen shot / photo on your phone or similar device and upload it of the partition disk screen when in the Kali graphical installer?

Try the grub parameters 'nomodeset grub_gfxmode=1024x768x16'
