I can't shutdown my laptop (Acer Aspire E1-470). It always restart after the system shutdown. Even
I have tried with shutdown -h now and poweroff however It didn't work for me too. can anyone help me?

have you tried to holding power button?

Holding power button is one of the last resort, when it has not gained a solution.. I hope if there are friends in this forum who had experienced the same problem, they can share their experiences how to solve this stuff...

@staticn0de: I had run the command you mentioned as well. Even, It has been re-installed for 3 times with the ISO file which had been verified. However there has been no change. :'(

Few more unorthodox things to try.
Press control + alt + f1 and then /etc/init.d/gdm3 stop
Once gdm3 has stopped, use shutdown -h now.
Other things,
Kill network manager and try to shutdown.
It may also be a bios setting. Something like wake on lan waking it up, maybe try and reset to defaults?
