Approximately 2~3 months ago, I installed NVIDIA proprietary driver in order to use full 3D features properly. However, I had a lot of errors like black cursor splashing screen, xorg issues, no detection of GPU which made me to install the Kali Linux again. I'm almost giving up to do this that I'm being stuck by unknown factor despite of using all the means (include blackmore's and official guide and others) for that. Can you give some solutions so that I'm able to proceed it? I'll be appreciated who gives proper solutions for these issues.

Notes:
  1. I used one of the official meta-packages (apt-get install kali-linux-all) to add more features like VirtualBox, Headers
  2. I used UUI instead of UNetbootin to install Kali as dual-booting
  3. I won't use Linux Mint or others until I have powerful desktop rig
  4. My Current VGA and Header by typing lspci | grep -i vga and uname -a
    user@kali:~$ lspci | grep -i vga
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09)

    user@kali:~$ uname -a
    Linux kali 3.14-kali1-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.14.5-1kali1 (2014-06-07) x86_64 GNU/Linux

Other Questions:
  • How do I upgrade Gnome 3.4.2 to Gnome 3.12.2?
  • How to update other tools like VirtualBox, Wireshark, Ice-weasel and others?
  • How do I update Filezilla in Kali (I used apt-get install Filezilla and got 3.5.3 which was far way back compared to 3.9.0.3)?

It says current version is found but it uses tar.bz2 version rather than applying automatically

The version of VirtualBox is Version 4.3.10_Debian r93012 which seems to be outdated
