Apple Keyboard and Mouse not working

I'm a noob and I would like to test Kali with WEP encrypted network. I have burned the 64bit iso to DVD and booted in Live mode (I know someone may suggest me to start with a virtual machine since I'm not confident with the distro, but I wouldn't want to use a USB wireless card, I'd like to test the potential of the Airport Extreme chipset). So i select the option "live amd64" (or smth like that) and the keyboard stops working while the GUI is booting.
I have a bluetooth keyboard and iMac late 2012.
Can someone suggest me a workaround?

I'm having the exact same problem with a late 2014 iMac. I may go buy a USB keyboard and mouse because perhaps it has to do with the bluetooth not being set up yet in Kali. I'm a noob as well so this is all speculation. I'd love to know if you've figured anything out by now. I can't seem to find a solution to this problem anywhere.
