Duplicating/ mirroring laptop screem to a TV as a monitor

Hello,

I am trying to duplicate/ mirror my laptop screen on my TV as a monitor. I have it connected via VGA. The problem I am having is that when I close the laptop, the TV goes blank.

I have tried using gnome, gnome-tweak-tool and going through leafpad with a fille setting no-suspend-lid-shut.

I am thinking it may have something to do with my updates also. I have not been able to update. Each time I try to, it sends an error message that the operation was cancelled.

Any help would be great.

We would boot into the BIOS of the laptop and see if there are any setting of interest there.

Sometimes when you plug laptops and pcS into a TV, the TV can't read the refresh rate if the laptop is on. Plug it in and reboot while plugged in. Worked for me
