Nvidia_Intel_Laptops and the black screen of death.

Has anybody managed to patch their kernel with any success in regards to the ACPI bug? Or has any idea what package is referenced in the crash dump?

After many days of trying to solve this I'm no closer. There are many "Solutions" around mainly dealing with problems that arise from people not reading the included docs first.

There seems to be one ACPI bug however that is a real ***.

I've had it happen not only with the Nvidia drivers but with the Gnome desktop themes and a few other different things across multiple installs and kernel versions. A simple theme killed it this time. All to do with that x...config file the X server and the ACPI.

My guess is if your seeing ACPI errors nothing short of patching the kernel is going to solve it.

Multiple different vectors all involving X so it isn't contained only to the Nvidia drivers. Does anyone have an educated guess as to how this can be solved.

There are a few kernel patches that propose to deal with it but that's a big risk IMO. If your anything like me the thought of going back to Windoze while my killer lappy lays idle makes me wanna puke. So I defer to the Linux guru's to come forth and work some magic.

    Hi there.

By nvidia Intel, are you on an nvidia optimus laptop?

Try some of the fixes in the how to section. The rcu change may fix it for you. It has fixed half a dozen optimus bugs so far, this one may be no different.

Also, if you want magic worked, you will need to post logs.

i do suppose that is ACPI error, but i don't know how to handle it. - can any one suggest way to handle these ?

    Hi there,

I / We need more information.

What version of Kali? Have you installed bumblebee? What version of Nvidia drivers are installed? did you install them from the .run or via the repo?
