    Angry TP-Link WN772N Problem

    Hi

I have brought a tp-link wn727n usb wireless adapter for Kali. I have installed the drivers for it however I cannot see any wireless connection in network-manager and if I run ifconfig wlan0 doesn't show. However if I run lsusb I can see the adapter. I have tried every suggestion I could find on the internet an nothing has worked.

Any help would be great. Thanks

just curious, why did you buy the TP-LINK TL-WN727N when the TL-WN722N is plug and play with Kali?

    hi

    check your configuration files in
    /etc/network/interfaces
if you dont see any configuration for wireless interface try to make a static configuration
    for example
    auto wlan0
    iface wlan0 inet static
    address xx.xx.xx.xx
    netmask xx.xx.xx.xx
    broadcast xx.xx.xx.xx
    gateway xx.xx.xx.xx

xx that is mean your networks ips configuration

    hi
Try to check the folder /etc/modprobe.d
may be you have configuration in it block your access point from operating with the system

What wireless card do you have?
    The title says:
    TP-Link WN772N Problem
    and then it you say:
    I have brought a tp-link wn727n usb wireless adapter
    if I'm not mistaken TL-WN772N it's ath9k based
and WN727n was first based on RT2800usb and the latest WN727n version 4 it's MediaTek MT7601U.
I'm suspecting that you have MediaTek coz the other two should work out of the box in Kali.
If that's the case then you can try install the drivers from here:

    So you have WN727N, yes?

If so then change the title of this thread.

I persist you haven't install your card. Are there any modules loaded? What dmesg show you? lsmod? rfkill list all ?
You may be see your adapter with lsusb but don't expect to get it working if it requires a firmware and/or modules.

    TP-LINK TL-WR720N problem

    hi
I'm facing a quite similar problem. My laptops running on both kali and kubuntu. Kubuntu can detect my wifi automatically and connect to it but kali does not show anything. I need to connect to the internet using an ethernet cable while using kali but i can connect directly without any cable while using kubuntu. I'm using TP-Link TL-WR720N router. Please help. Thank you in advanced.
