apt-get update etc fails - sources.list in /etc/apt/ folder Remarked Out with #

The apt-get update and upgrade feature in our Hard drive installs of kali-linux 1.09 failed to function.
We found that the sources.list file in the /etc/apt/ folder had been Remarked/commented out with a #

If your apt-get update etc doesnot return any results look there first.
