can't use any wifi related attacks with Kali nethunter for Nexus 5

    Hi,

I just finished installing the nethunter image for my Nexus 5 (4.4 stock) and I can't get any of the wifi related attacks running on the device, I get different errors depending on the tool I try to execute but they all seem to indicate that the WLAN1 interface is not present or ready.

For instance when I choose wireless attacks in the terminal (option 1) I get this error: "Wlan 1: ERROR while getting interface flag no such device: No such device"

Any ideas on what might have gone wrong ?
    Thanks in advance

    Cheers,

Are you using an external wifi dongle ? if so, which one ? what does dmesg say ? hard to figure out what's wrong with your setup with the limited info you gave.

    Hi,

Sorry I did not rtfm... I thought it was possible to put the internal wifi card of the nexus devices in monitor mode. I'll go buy myself an Alfa AWUS036H card
    Keep up the good work!

Do you mean with the internal wifi?

Don't rush with that AWUS036H! You might want a AWUS036NHA instead as it has a better chipset for injection / AP mode.

I have the same issue with nexus 7 (stock 4.4 build)

    dmesg output:
    Code:
    [ 73.892134] CFGP2P-ERROR) wl_cfgp2p_do_ioctl : wl_cfgp2p_do_ioctl: IOCTL req 0x8b0d on p2p0 I/F. Ignoring.
    [ 73.977062] CFGP2P-ERROR) wl_cfgp2p_do_ioctl : wl_cfgp2p_do_ioctl: IOCTL req 0x8b03 on p2p0 I/F. Ignoring.
    [ 73.977582] CFGP2P-ERROR) wl_cfgp2p_do_ioctl : wl_cfgp2p_do_ioctl: IOCTL req 0x8b1d on p2p0 I/F. Ignoring.
    [ 73.980046] CFGP2P-ERROR) wl_cfgp2p_do_ioctl : wl_cfgp2p_do_ioctl: IOCTL req 0x8b09 on p2p0 I/F. Ignoring.
    [ 73.980798] wl_iw_ioctl: error in cmd=8b03 : not supported
    [ 73.991582] wl_iw_ioctl: error in cmd=8b09 : not supported
do the wireless attacks require an external wifi card? (making the assumption due to wlan1)

    Many thanks in advance.

The chipset in the nexus 5 can NOT be used as it doesn't have injection/monitor mode so you need an otg-y cable and an external wifi adapter

    Hi,

The AWUS036NHA has Atheros chipset same as Tplink. The only difference I saw is that the Alfa has a little more range but not so significant. I prefer to use the Tplink since it is smaller.

An external wifi dongle via OTG is required for MANA, injection, etc.

I am having a similar experience with my Nexus 7 (2013) I cant seem to get the wifi to initialize, but when I restore back to stock the interface comes back. are there extra drivers that need to be installed?

External wifi for tplink something like: http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-WN7.../dp/B002SZEOLG

Yakker - If you aren't seeing wifi you are probably using an old version of Android (you should be on 4.4.4).

I have possibly the same problem, the nexus internal wifi wont turn on since nethunter install, I'm still trying to figure it out. waiting on my otg cable to see if the alfa works and i'm gonna go from there
