I have 64-bit Kali 1.0.9 (GNOME) running as a Hyper-V VM on a Win8.1 host. The VM won't recover from a screen lock. What I mean by that is, after sitting for a while, the VM screen goes black (like normal), but when I return to using Kali, the desktop environment doesn't return. I can move the mouse all over the screen, but I'm moving it over a black screen. Nothing I do in Kali returns my desktop and nothing I do in hyper-v manager works either (pause VM, etc). I have to poweroff the VM and restart it.

Since Applications->System Tools->Preferences->System Settings->Brightness and Lock only gives me 1 hour as a max delay, I used dconf editor to make the following changes in org->gnome->settings-daemon->plug-ins->power

sleep-display-ac 0
sleep-display-battery 0
sleep-inactive-ac-type nothing
sleep-inactive-battery-type nothing

The host is a desktop, so no battery, but ****, I changed those values anyway.

I don't care whether it can recover from screen lock or if I can prevent screen lock in the first place, either would work. What I can't do is shake the mouse every few minutes during a long hashcat run!

Thanks.
