kali linux in amazon ec2

Dear All,

I am trying to access my Kali install in amazon ec2 but I am unable to access it as my SSH client errors 'Permission denied (publickey)'. I am 100% sure I have the right provate key. I tried users as root, ec2-user and kali. Nothing worked, can you please help
