The following problem was encountered on two(2) separate computers using different AWUSO36H wifi devices.
After initial install of Kali 1-09a - attempting to update/upgrade thru a AWUSO36H wireless device was found to be impossible.
Connection to the router was difficult AND once association was obtained any update/upgrade went nowhere.
After testing ten(10) different wifi access points, restarting the computer etc etc, there was no download only association.
Finally we used the extremely weak signal thru an internally installed wifi device. The download immediately began. As mentioned we duplicated this on a second computer, different make, model using a different AWUSO36H device. In the second case when download was impossible after hours of trying, we disconnected the connection thru the AWUSO36H, turned on the internal wireless and associated to the same router with an extremely weak signal and the download immediately began.
If you are unable to update/upgrade an initial install of kali-109a thru a AWUSO36H try a different wifi device.
