Hello,
I got a problem in Kali. My virtual machine(VMware) suddenly lost id. The terminal looks like this:
I have no name!@kali
So I was trying to restart Kali but then cannot log in at all.
Can anyone help me or tell me what I should do? Of course, I can reinstall the machine but I do not want to lose data, especially there are some exercises and notes. Is there any way I can restore them? Thanks.

You could either:
+ Mount the HDD in another virtual machine - and copy over your files
+ Boot from a Live CD/DVD on the broken VM - and copy out your files
+ Try and reset the root password by booting into single user mode (guide: http://www.debianadmin.com/how-to-re...-password.html)
