I am pretty new to Linux but not new to testing, during one of the scans I installed a package and in an attempt to remove it, I accidently used the commands 'apt-get remove' post which i lost all my repositories, packages everything.
When i rebooted the system, I was greeted by CLI in place of GUI. In this mode my WiFi, LAN Card are in DOWN state and no matter what I try, it wouldnt come up.
Thereby I am not able to go online or remove non-required packages and revert to original settings. Basically, I am stuck with CLI with limited access to my data, tools etc.

Would I have to format my system and restore it back from scratch or is there any other means to get it to work again.

Any help on this would be much appreciated.
