Can't boot Kali after install

Hi - I am having an issue booting Kali after installing from a USB stick. I go through normal installation procedures, everything installs fine and when I restart the computer to load the OS up it fails after choosing the OS via GRUB. It says:

loading initial ramdisk
error: couldn't read file

I am able to load Kali live just fine, it just won't load up when I try to install to the hard drive. I wiped the drive and am trying to install Kali only, so there's no other OS installed or anything it's a completely fresh install. Does anyone know how I can troubleshoot or better yet fix this? Google does not reveal much to me.

Found the problem, the hard drive was bad.
