Small Kali Linux repo issue... 'index files failed to download.'

    Hi Guys,

Just installed KL last night still getting used to it. Can anyone inform me on fixing the following issue..

    Code:
W: Failed to fetch http://repo.kali.org/kali/dists/kali-bleeding-edge/Release Unable to find expected entry '-/binary-amd64/Packages' in Release file (Wrong sources.list entry or malformed file)

W: Failed to fetch http://http.kali.org/kali/dists/kali/Release Unable to find expected entry '-/binary-amd64/Packages' in Release file (Wrong sources.list entry or malformed file)

W: Failed to fetch http://http.kali.org/kali/dists/kali-dev/Release Unable to find expected entry '-/source/Sources' in Release file (Wrong sources.list entry or malformed file)

W: Failed to fetch http://http.kali.org/dists//wheezy/Release Unable to find expected entry '-/binary-amd64/Packages' in Release file (Wrong sources.list entry or malformed file)

E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

This happened after following a tutorial on how to get software center and synaptic. Any help much appreciated..

    thanks

Good chance this is because you (or something you ran) have altered your Kali source file.
This isn't recommend at all: http://docs.kali.org/general-use/kal...t-repositories
We’ve seen many people break their Kali Linux installations by following unofficial advice, or arbitrarily populating their sources.list file with unneeded repositories. The following post aims to clarify what repositories should exist in sources.list, and when they should be used.

Any additional repositories added to the Kali sources.list file will most likely BREAK YOUR KALI LINUX INSTALL.
You can try and restore your source file, to see if that fixes it. Else, quickest fix is normally a reinstall (and not to follow that guide again).
But without knowing what tutorial you did/where it went wrong - its hard to know the damage.
