I have a hardware install of Kali Linux on an Asus notebook. I have been using it for almost 2 years now. It has a standard account and the default root user. Recently when I login as root , the touchpad doesn't respond. In the login screen it's alright and if I login as the other user(the non root account) it is alright.
This is how it started:
Initially I would login normally as root but after some time the touchpad pointer not responding (being stuck at one point but the left and right clicks would function) but would go back to normal after a reboot. Then I lost the clicks too (a reboot would restore the functionality for sometime then a freeze). Eventually a reboot stopped helping.
I normally login as root. Only added the other account for my nephew recently (just before this started).
Please help.
