Can you install AMD Omega Drivers on Kali?

Hello, I recently installed the latest version of Kali (1.1.0) and I'm struggling to install the latest AMD Catalyst Drivers which are supposed to be better for linux. Whenever I try to install them I always get an error during the kernal stage at 91% of the installation. I was wondering if anyone has managed to install these drivers, and if so then how did you manage to do it?

    Hi.
I may be able to help.
I've managed to install the AMD omega drivers on a HDD install of Kali but not a USB live with persistence install.
If you've installed to HDD let me know & I'll reply with the steps I took to get the install working.

    Hi Jito
I am very much interested in your approach!
I downloaded the driver 14.501.1003 from the official ati support page and followed
the patching steps described in this blog: http://henryhermawan.blogspot.ch/.
I also tried the newest catalyst beta driver - but no matter what I do, it doesn't work.

Whenever I type fglrxinfo it responds with: "Error: unable to open display (null)".

    Best regards
    Amadeus

    Hi Amadeus.

You might want to try this guide posted by a fellow member:

Obviously this isn't 14.501 but it may help you all the same.

So i tried to follow your instructions which seems to work more or less. Yet, oclhascat uses only one graphics device:

    lspci | grep VGA

02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Tahiti XT [Tadeon HD 7970]
03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Tahiti XT [Tadeon HD 7970]
05:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Tahiti XT [Tadeon HD 7970]
06:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Tahiti XT [Tadeon HD 7970]
07:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Tahiti XT [Tadeon HD 7970]

    amd-config --list-devices

    4. 06:00.0 AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series
    5. 07:00.0 AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series

    oclhashcat -b
    ---------------
    oclHashcat v1.36 starting in benchmark-mode...

    Device #1: Tahiti, 2995MB, 1000Mhz, 32MCU

ATTENTION! Unsupported or incorrect installed GPU driver detected!

    Do you have any ideas?

    P.S.
    I also tried "ati-config --initial -f --adapter=all"

    Best regards

Take a look in the fglrx cal++ thread in the community guide section. There is some discussion on getting multi gpus to work.
    chown -R us ./base
