Exclamation Alfa Awus036H, strange behaviour and dropped connection

    Hello everyone,

I have ordered Alfa Awus036H (RTL8187 chipset) about 1 week ago and still trying to make it working with Kali.
Let me explain the whole issue:

I have running Kali in my both desktop & laptop.
Kali is working under VMware environment.

However, my connection (not monX interface, just wlan0) is dropping every 1-2 minutes.
Actually connection drops on some actions like:
    - Running ettercap
    - Any ARP command
    - Port scanning

It looks like device is not responding at all, i have to re-plug it to USB.
And also, i have tested it on Windows, connection is really slow.

I have changed the USB cable with USB Y-cable, not changing anything.
I made further tests and plugged my TP-Link adapter (Atheros chipset) and everything seems fine.

There are mixed responses and solutions for my situtation, i have tried all. (Disabling network-manager, setting TX power, trying to install drivers which is unnecessary on Kali)
I am willing to order a new adapter if Alfa is really buggy on Kali (or any OS)

However, i would like to find a solution and the root of issue.
    Any ideas on my situtation?
I can send detailed logs, even enable remote vnc or anything to resolve this.

    Thank you all.

Happen to me as well, with both of my ALFA cards. the Alfa AWUS036H , Alfa AWUS036NHA
Unsure how to troubleshoot the problem either. sometimes it will just quit working and the terminal will freeze.

I have the same problem as well. I'm surprised there's no solid solution for this. It's a known issue with the RTL8187 driver from what I'm reading.

Supposedly rmmod rtl8187 && rfkill block all && rfkill unblock all && modprobe rtl8187 && rfkill unblock all && ifconfig wlan0 up should fix it. Though when I did this, I still had problems.

I have same problem, I just unplug it and plug it back in, some applications it happens all the time, others its rare. It happens a lot in a few of the applications where monitor mode is necessary. Not a big deal to me as I just unplug and restart monitor mode, other than that the devices are great. I am thinking of testing with a new device, maybe tplink next.
