nexus 4 external wifi adapter NOT WORKING !!!!!!

ive flashed nethunter three times now
clean installs wiped everything including system

i have tried alpha and tplink wireless cards

not recognised by iwconfig or airmon-ng

  2. My issue is the fact that it appears nethunter is trying to use my external wireless card (TP-LINK TL-WN722N) as the main wireless card so im unable to connect to any networks with the TP-LINK connected to my Nexus 7 2013 WiFi Tablet. Keeps trying to connect to the network but fails password is correct.

Are you using an OTG Y cable bc the n4 cannot supply power to the external wireless adapter. On top of this there has been a problem with OTG COMPATIBLE kernels disabling WiFi. You can find a few threads on it if you look around the forum. So ya big disappointment I would like to have used this for wireless. Even with the cable and extra power supply it would have been logistically convenient. Hopefully somebody with more knowledge gets the road bumps smoothed.

TP-LINK TL-WN722N its powered by the Nexus 7 2013 Tablet over OTG Cable I recently picked up this OTG cable..

For $0.22 + free shipping off ebay possibly sells ofr over $1.00 on amazon shipped from california i figured it would've shipped from China to the US but came from within the US was not broken.
Long story short works just fine with that cable to give the wireless card TP-LINK TL-WN722N power. Something like a Alfa network AWUS036H would need like a why cable.

The N4 doesn't supply enough power to power external devices/otg without a y-cable and external battery/power. This is a limitation of the N4 and nothing can be done about it. Make sure you are using an otg with y-cable.

Thought I would add that making an OTG-Y from a regular OTG cable is rather simple.

The tl-wn722n with y cable and power does not show.
When I upgrade the kernel with hells-Core-b47-USB-OTG_Justvarshney.zip for OTG functionality my internal wifi does work.
    My USB stick works
    USB Mouse works.
    TL-WN722N does not. :-(
But when I do lsusb I do see the TL-WN722N in the list of usb devices bus 002 device 002 That shows me the nexus 4 does see it.
When I do a iwconfig it is not there and als wlan1 is not there.
Need more help as I am new to debugging drivers on android. Looks like some permissions or services are not loaded.
    modprobe xxxxxx something or so.

@falcon yes it is easy. Cut the cable carefuly of your OTG cable. So you see the wires.
Strip some insulation from the red and black wire.
Take a old cable (from a mouse or keyboard) strip the end red and black you need.
Make sure the other cable ends are insulated.
Solder the 2 cables to gether.
Put insulating tape on the solder joints.
Add power to the old cable and you have a OTG Y cable.
Your nexus 4 will be charged as you power it.
And you usb devices will work.

Test with a USB mouse first. You will see a mouse pointer after some seconds.
If it does not show. Load OTG kernel support.
    Reboot en test again.
If it does not work your soldering went wrong.

@ n4 net hunter and local host ya try reading what I wrote b4 responding. Also the developer was nice enough to develop the ROM and sounds like they don't even have an n4 to test so think about what your posting. Funny how people have such a sense of entitlement.

    Update:
    OTG issue:
    Looks like
    Kernel problems:
Changed from hells-core to franco kernel 3.4.88

When I do a lsusb it does show my LT-WN722N device in android mako terminal
It shows in Kali terminal my LT-WN-722N device as:
    Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0cf3:9271 Atheros Communications, Inc. AR9271 802.11n

When I do a lsmod kali terminal as root:
    nothing retuns

When I look at the file system:
    /system/etc/firmware
    the file is installed
    htc_9210.fw

    When I do apt-get update && apt-get install firmware-atheros
    I get the notification:
    E: Invalid Operation firmware-atheros
Looks like non-free drivers give problem
    Doing: modprobe ath9k ath9k_htc
libmod : ERROR ../libmod/libmod.c:505 kmod_lookup_alias_from_buildin_file: could not open buildin file
    '/lib/modules/3.4.88-franco.nightly_209-OTG/modules/modules.buildin.bin
    FATAL: module ath9k not found.

    Same error doing modprobe htc_9271
    Command: ls -l /lib/modules/3.4.88-franco.nightly_209-OTG
shows file modules.buildin.bin being direct in this directory no directory modules.

    Now got stuf working:

    Nexus 4:
    Wifi working mostly still testing

    Unlock the phone
    Install bootloader
    Install default android 4.4.4
Install photonicgeek.me mako kernel with twrp don't forget to wipe cash
    and dalvik
    http://photonicgeek.me/NetHunter/Ker...t-12042014.zip
    Install busybox-signed.zip and UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.40.zip with twrp don't
forget to wipe cash and dalvik
Installed kali_linux_nethunter_occam_kitkat.zip with twrp don't forget to
    wipe cash and dalvik
    Reboot the phone
    With in kali terminal
make a symbolic link to /etc/firmware
    ln -s /system/etc/firmware /etc/firmware
    shutdown the phone
Plug in the wifi usb adapter with y cable and power
    Start the phone
    In the default android terminal
    su
    ifconfig wlan1 up
Now start nethunter you should see the wlan0 wlan1 and p2p0 interfaces.
