GTX 470 EVGA for pentest use?

A co-worker has GTX 470 evga for sale for 65 bucks or was it 70 regardless not very expensive. I been looking for a graphics card to put in my desktop to take some of the load off the cpu. Not really interested in gaming, and its primary use will be in the linux environment, specifically practicing my skills. Anyone have any experience with these cards? How do they work with Kali etc.

Not used this card specifically, I have a GTX 970. CUDA install etc and it will be good to go for offline brute forcing tasks, such as password hash cracking etc.

It will be significantly faster than a CPU while being no where near as fast as a current mid-high range card such as the GTX 970 which is comparable to the R9 280X in hashing.
