Question Dual boot on Macbook2,1 Problems.

    Hi,

I tried to install Kali Linux following this guide: http://docs.kali.org/installation/ka...n-mac-hardware
I used rEFIt for the booting. (rEFInd doesn't work either)
I created the USB by using the dd command.
    Code:
     dd if=kali-linux-1.0.9a-amd64.iso of=/dev/disk1 bs=1m
When i boot Kali from the USB and choose Legacy OS it gives me this error:

    Code:
    Starting legacy loader
    Using load options 'USB'
Error: Not Found returned from legacy loader
    Error: Not Found from LocateDevicePath
    Error: Not Found from LocateDevicePath
    Error: Not Found from LocateDevicePath
    Error: Not Found from LocateDevicePath
    Error: Not Found from LocateDevicePath
    Error: Not Found from LocateDevicePath
    Error: Not Found from LocateDevicePath
    Error: Not Found from LocateDevicePath
    Error: Not Found from LocateDevicePath
    Error: Not Found from LocateDevicePath
    Error: Not Found from LocateDevicePath
    Error: Not Found from LocateDevicePath
    Error: Not Found from LocateDevicePath
    Error: Not Found from LocateDevicePath
    Error: Not Found from LocateDevicePath
Error: Load Error while (re)opening our installation volume

The firmware refused to boot from the selected volume. Note that external
hard drives are not well-supported by Apple's firmware for legacy OS booting.
When i burn the .iso to a DVD and choose Legacy OS it gives me:

    Code:
           1.

           2.
    Select CD-ROM Boot type : _
After that my keyboard doesn't react anymore and i have to reboot the Macbook.
When burning the DVD i just followed this guide http://www.ubuntu.com/download/deskt...dvd-on-mac-osx
So i converted the .iso to .cdr with Disk Utility (Dvd/cd-master) and i got the same:

    Code:
           1.

           2.
    Select CD-ROM Boot type : _
I'm still able to dual boot Ubuntu and Backbox using a DVD if i want, but i want to try Kali Linux.
I don't understand why i can't get it to work, i know it isn't fully supported, but still i wonder of there is someone who was able to do this.

    Hey Anthony,

I know it sounds fishy but it might just do the trick for you (as it did for me on a black macbook2,1): try to boot from a dvd and press the [ 1 ] and [ Enter ] simultaneously keys as soon you hear the drive spin up... timing seems important so it might take a few tries.

I'm having the same problem when booting with refind, or holding the option key, or using the 32bit or the 64bit bistro on a DVD-RW or the mini distro burnt on a CD: Select CD-ROM Boot Type.
I've tried very numerous times to press and hold 1 and the enter key. This puts indeed a 1 after de prompt , but the computer still hangs.
