[Nexus 7 / 2013] Lollipop Rom - No external WiFi

I installed my Nethuner completly new (Factory reset) with the current 1.2 Lollipop Version on my Nexus 7 2013.
But my external Wifi-Adapter (TP-Link TL-WN722N) does´t come up. Wasn´t a problem under KitKat before.

    Here is the dmesg output:
    Code:

Same problem here. I'm on a Nexus 2013 5.0.2 ROM. I've tried different strategies of connecting the TP-LINK WN722n (at boot, after boot, disabling internal wifi etc). but none seemed to work. Here are my outputs:

    Hi binkybear,

yeah - no problem! If you need some more info/debug/help with that problem please let me know.
Of course, Lollipop is a new base so it is absolute normal that it won´t run without any problems in the first versions
    Thanks!

I am having the same problem. Is there a resolution for this?

    Additional Notes:
I have the Wireless N 1W Alfa card and it did work in kitkat. Lollipop I have the same issues as you folks.

I noticed on mine it looks like it is trying to use the RT2800USB driver

    Whereas, mine is a rtl8187
    in /sys/module the closest is a rtl8192
However, the firmware does exist in /system/etc/firmware/rtlwifi for a rt8187

The error - guessing from other android builds and what not looks like it is simple "unknown."

My dmesg looks similar to yours. However, iwconfig does not exist... wlan0 (built-in) is under ifconfig.

my n7 2013 wifi only with tplink TL-WN722N is identical to Bene's issue. No need to elaborate really; only to confirm his issue is duplicated on my device as well.

I had a little success getting the TPlink recognized at least, using a different OTG cable; turning wifi off and back on in settings menu. light illuminated on the 772 and connected to local wifi correctly (and then rebooted without being prompted); but in the Kali launcher the enable monitor mode option and all the wireless attacks no longer detect the wlan interface after the upgrade to lolipop. might just have to be patient and downgrade back using NRT for a while if this is important to you

I as well am having the same issue with external WiFi. I used a 422G which is using the same chipset.

Has this issue been resolved in some "official way" yet? Any movement on it would be nice/greatly appreciated.

    rtl8187l

Running stock Lollipop 5.1.1 with Nethunter 1.21 (or 1.2 as it says on the website) on a Nexus 7 LTE 2013 (razorg). Using an AWUS036H card (rtl8187L chipset) with a OTG usb 3 port hub.
Having a bigger problem: the wifi card is not detected as a wireless card at all. Once plugged in I issue an 'ifconfig wlan0 up' (using wlan0 as tablet's in-built wifi is off as per macimcherny's fix). 'iwconfig' reports the existance of wlan0, yet is simply says no wireless extension. 'ifconfig' does display a valid MAC and the adapter is correctly listed in lsusb.
Here is the dmesg (I cut the beggining out to make the post - hopefully I did not leave anything important out):

fwiw, I just installed Nethunter (latest build as of 7/1/2015) over lollipop 5.1 on my Nexus 2013 and I got my Alfa card AWUS036NH to be recognized as wlan1. The trick I had to use is to plug in the OTG y cable first into the wall, then into the Alfa card (alfa card lit up blue), then into the Nexus 2013. If I plug in the Alfa card into the Nexus 2013 first, it wont work.

In addition, I realized that OTG host charging also works in this configuration/method...it just doesn't display a charging symbol.

    Good luck!

Any one else still having same issue? I have a 36 NH, and the 51 NH Alfa cards and neither are defected.

Any advice in right direction would be appreciated.

    Nexus 7 2013 wifi using the TP-Link WN722N.

Works fine on the OnePlus One but can't get the nexus to detect the card no matter what I try.
