Earlier today I installed Kali Linux on a new computer and had trouble with my video. I tried the nomodeset trick on ubuntu forums and lo and behold it worked! So when I edited the /etc/default/grub file, I forgot to sudo update-grub and completely lost everything in that file in the process. I can still boot in to Kali, I just need to press E at grub and put in nomodeset each time.

How do I go about reconstituting my /etc/default/grub file without doing a full system install? I looked around and haven't been able to find anything regarding that so I come to you all. Help would be much appreciated.
