In short, i couldn't connect to my wireless network during installation, even though it worked perfectly in the live environment...
It turned out that simply broadcasting the SSID so that it was visible, made the process work... I'm not entirely sure if it's a known bug in the installation that netcfg can't seem to connect to a hidden network, or if it was just an issue for me, but if anybody else finds that they can't connect to their own network, and they aren't broadcasting their SSID, it's worth a shot to make it visible and see if that fixes the issue.
