Hi everyone, I have windows 7 installed on my HP 550 laptop. I donno whats the amd version and everythin, i only know basic config - 2 Gb ram core 2 duo processor 32 bit, when i installed i got Grub rescue error. I have tried everything to rescue from there tried the commands to run kernel but it said "error loading kernel". Where am i wrong? following are the steps:

Firstly I used imager to install iso file to a pendrive of 8 GB.
then i used it to graphical install Kali to external hard drive, by creating 10 GB of boot 5 GB of swap and 180 GB of root.

I think I've gone through the right steps to install Kali to the external drive:
I shrunk my existing partitions to leave me ~700 GB of free space
Used the Kali Live CD to repartition the space (made boot, root, and swap partitions)
Installed GRUB to the external HDD (/dev/sdb)
But the grub just fails to load everytime.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Moreover I have followed the same steps while installing Backtrack 5 r3 Gnome version 32 bit and it gave me no problem at all.
