    Airodump-ng input/output error

    Hey techies,

I'm a newbie who's fascinated by Kali. My friend and I were trying to pentest his network when we got these errors:

    "bash: /usr/sbin/airodump-ng: input/output error"

And when I tried to open iceweasel I got yet another error:

"Failed to execute child process "iceweasel" (input/output error)"'

What is the problem and how do I rectify it?

Please remember that I'm a tyro and am just getting my feet wet in this fascinating world of White-Hat-Hacking. So please lay it down nice and slow - in English!

Any help will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks.

I'm booting Kali through a USB. The version is, kali-linux-1.0.8-i386.

We might need a little more information on what you were doing. What were the actually commands you used for airodump-ng? Did you start a monitor? Did you kill the conflicting processes?

Just take us step by step what you did to get that error. And if you can't recreate that error again, then I wouldn't worry too much about it.
