TrueCrypt vs VeraCrypt

Is there some reason why Kali still uses the broken and unmaintained TrueCrypt?

I have found VeraCrypt, it is built on TrueCrypt 7.1a but they claim to have fixed the bugs and enhanced the security. Plus it can handle TrueCrypt volumes. Or is there something that I don't know about VeraCrypt?

Please consider replacing TrueCrypt with VeraCrypt, or please explain why not.

Good chance this all comes 'upstream' from Debian, rather than the Kali dev team (which is why it hasn't been switched).

This is typical of Debian. Unfortunately I have noticed that Debian likes to use sloppy and apparently outdated/broken code.

Since Kali 2 I installed VeraCrypt to access my TrueCrypt volumes. And when it comes to TrueCrypt Vs VeraCrypt... from now on the may bury TrueCrypt.

I personally like to use truecrypt 7.1a, because it is still save. Is there an audit on VeraCrypt out there ?
