    ssh not accepting password

    I just did a fresh install of Kali 2.0, set root password and started sshd . I am unable to login using correct password.here is the log.

    Kali 2.0 comes with the Root login allowed, but restricted to public-key only.

    In /etc/ssh/sshd_config
    replace
    PermitRootLogin without-password
    by
    PermitRootLogin yes

    and restart your ssh daemon
    # service ssh restart

    Edit /etc/ssh/sshd_config, and comment out the following line:

    PermitRootLogin without-password

    Just below it, add the following line:

    PermitRootLogin yes

    Then restart SSH:

    service ssh restart

    Since Debian 8 - root login now requires a SSH key to login.
