Angry Installing Kali Linux Live to hard disk on Mac Book Pro

I followed the instructions ( on how to download Kali Linux Live to my hard disk. I downloaded the gpg ( and I typed this command "$ wget -q -O - | gpg --import" into a terminal and I got
    -bash: $: command not found
    -bash: gpg: command not found
    So I tried the command "$ gpg --keyserver hkp:// --recv-key 7D8D0BF6" and i got
    -bash: $: command not found
I also downloaded the Kali Linux 64 bit ISO and the Kali Linux 32 bit ISO and typed "uname -m" into terminal but it said permission denied.
Please tell me what I did wrong and how to fix it. Any information will be helpful :)

The '$' at the beginning is not part of the commands to type. Remove it and try again to see if it works better.
