Exclamation Kali 2.0 Mini Install Error: No installable kernel was found in the defined APT sourc

I have been attempting to install Kali 2.0 Mini from USB to a 1GB logical partition on my laptop (MSI X610).

After a few initial problems, the install seemed to be progressing OK but then suddenly stopped with an error screen:

    Code:
                  [!] Install the base system

No installable kernel was found in the defined APT sources.

    (etc)
If I look in virtual console 4, it says the following:

    Code:
    :
    base-installer:
base-installer: W: Failed to fetch http://http.kali.org/kali/dists/sana/main/binary-i386/Packages: Hash Sum mismatch
    base-installer:
base-installer: E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.
base-installer: warning: apt update failed: 100
    in-target: Reading package lists...
    in-target:
    in-target: Building dependency tree...
    in-target:
in-target: Package locales is not available, but is referred to by another package.
in-target: This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
in-target: is only available from another source
    in-target:
in-target: E: Package 'locales' has no installation candidate
localechooser: error: the command 'validlocale' is not available
    base-installer: info: Found kerels ''
It has taken quite some time to get to this stage so I don't relish starting the install all over again - can I recover from this situation?

    Thanks,

This hints that the repo that you were using at the time, was busy being sync'd up.
Wait it out (few hours to a day) and try again.

OK, thanks. I wasn't sure which version of Kali to download (the downloads webpage offers no information as to what the different versions are for, nor can I see anythig i the documentation), so I thought the Mini version would give me a nice compact version of the OS but instead it just seems it needed to pull everything down from the internet (which was all the more tricky because it didn't have the drivers for my wifi card) - would I be better off just downloading the full fat version and installing from that?

    Personally, I vote for yes.

I have the same problem, so would I be better off just downloading the full fat version and installing from that?

I decided to give the Light version a go first, and that at least boots a live CD so I'll have a look at that for the moment.
