Ethernet device detected but not functional

Hello everyone, I'm relatively new to kali/linux and I'm having trouble with getting ethernet to work. I'm dual booting with windows 8 and I finally have everything else working. My Kali Version: Kali version (KDE/GNOME, Arhitecture) - Linux version 3.18.0-kali3-amd64 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.7.2 (Debian 4.7.2-5) ) #1 SMP Debian 3.18.6-1~kali2 (2015-03-02).

ifconfig only detects wlan and lo. However the following shows that my ethernet device is detected:
    root@localhost:~# lspci -nn | grep -i ethernet
00:1f.6 Ethernet controller [0200]: Intel Corporation Device [8086:15b8] (rev 31)

From searching around I'm guessing it's a driver issue but I'm not really where to go from here. I would greatly appreciate any help.

Did you install the ethernet driver?

That's the problem I'm not particularly sure how to/where to find the driver for kali. My wifi card just worked out of the box.
