Creating a duel boot on an MSI Windows 8.1

Hi all, I first wanted to give you a little background information about myself so that you have a better understanding of where I am coming from.

I am a 3rd year cybersecurity and just wrapped up a course on pen testing and ethical hacking. I have very little experience with Linux so please try to dumb it down for me as much as you can.
I was really smitten with the whole pen test/hacking course and wanted to become more familiar with Kali. I had started off using it in VBox but it had its limitation and then moved to live via USB. I tried to use persistence but I was having no luck given that it was a little bit over my head. I discovered dual boot and figured that was more for me. I did a test install on my Sony Viao (that originally had Windows 7) with success, so I tried it on my MSI with Windows 8.1.

I had followed directions by creating a partion on my hard drive and installed Kali. To my surprise there was not a grub to select Windows 8.1 and it booted automatically into Kali. To make matters worse, Kali will not even boot now. I made a foolish mistake by not backing up my hard drive, but thats not too big a deal considering there was noting of any importance on there anyway. I am currently in the process of restoring my system and I am ready to give it another shot.

I was reading the sticky thread about dual boot and windows 7, Do I want to use those instruction? Can someone help guide me in the right direction? Thanks so much.

as someone who has experience with security and systems you should knew better then this. no hard feeling.
first don't panic. All yours data is on hdd. Your just need to repeir boot.
    what should you do.
from another computer download this tools:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/boot-repair-cd/ or
    http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/ or
    http://www.bootmed.com/download-boot...-download-com/

make boot usb and try to repair boot with one of them. If it first tool was unsuccessful, try with second....
This step is about to repair your Windows to boot normally

after that read how to disable Windows 8 fast boot options.
(I am thinking that you have those post here on forum - find it)
from Windows once again delete Kali partition and just leave it like unpartition space
and then read this post how to install Kali

if you have some other problems let us know
