Desktop wallpaper not showing in Kali Linux 2.0

I have just updated my Kali Linux to 2.0 using the official sources. Everything seems to be fine when I log in, but instead of the desktop wallpaper I have just a white screen. When I enter the background settings, it shows that I do have a wallpaper set at the moment, but it is not showing. I tried searching everywhere and could not find anything. Please, help. I have no clue what to do. This is what it looks like (picture below)

Another anoying thing: You can't choose a simple black background, there is no option for this.
