tty1 login error

After booting Linux from the grub bootloader, I see this login page -

Kali Linux 2.0 localhost.localdomain tty1 login :

Even after entering the root as login and the right password (i.e the one set up during installation), I get a login error.
What should I do since I am unable to open Linux desktop and use Linux

I want to say that upon setting up your OS you set a domain, and the username and password are being search for on the domain, I would recommend re-installing
