trying to install on a macbook pro

i've got an old paperweight(mac book pro 2006? or 2008?) model. I managed to get Kali to boot from USB, and played around with it, decided that i wanted to install it to the hard drive.

i tried to install it, following the directions, using the entire disk (no dual boot for me, everything in the apple store is not able to run on my mac due to age)

anyway, now i've got the flashing folder ? thingy.

i cannot any longer boot from the usb stick, i burned it to disk, and still nothing. i've tried a few other things from searching with no luck

    any ideas or suggestions?

and i DO NOT HAVE A APPLE DVD TO RESTORE.

ok, so i managed to umm.. find a copy of the snow leopard disks, and got that back on there. i get to step 13, and my tables already show the linux partition as hex 83, i set it again anyway, and reboot. i get no option in the refind boot menu.

i've ran the install.sh under snow leopard terminal, and still nothing.

why is it not showing up in refind?
