    Shorten "wlan0mon" in the next Kali version

    Just wanted to give a tiny bit of advice for the next Kali Linux version...

    I started using the new Kali Linux 2.0 and noticed that "mon0" no longer exists... now it's "wlan0mon".
    Every time I use airodump, aireplay, macchanger, wash, and so on... I have to write the entire phrase "wlan0mon". I don't think it's necessary to make it so long. Something like this would be better:

    w0 =wlan0
    m0 = mon0
    wm0 = wlanmon0
    w0m = wlan0mon

    I know it's nothing "serious" but I think the entire community can agree that short = easy & fast. It would be a convenient change for the next Kali version.

    Just a thought...

    Thanks

    The airmon-ng program is a bash script under the purview of aircrack-ng not kali-linux. You should post your comments there as well. MTeams is working on a rewrite for our own use. If the project is ever finished we will post it but right now it is incomplete.

    I have created a tool, interforce feel free to use it, this will shorten the name (simply by not elongating it and using the actual logical name ie wlan0) its designed to be an alternative to airmon-ng (for finicky systems in my case a modified chrome book acer). Its currently available on sourceforge, any way I hope this helps someone and feed back is always nice . https://sourceforge.net/p/interforce...ree/interforce

    That sound's interesting ECitsme. I'll check it out and let you know what I think.

    This has nothing todo with Kali & everything todo with aircrack-ng.
    Aircrack-ng != kali.

    If you want it to be changed, you need to request it upstream.
