    Airbase-ng ESSID Bug in aircrack-ng 1.2rc3

For those not following aircrack-ng forums there is a bug in the aircrack-ng 1.2rc3 version of airbase-ng.

When a ESSID is selected, airbase-ng transmits two(2) ESSID names, the name selected by the user AND another ESSID named default.

MTeams confirms this bug exists. The following simple solution has been tested with Pwnstar9.0.

Replace the newer version of airbase-ng with the older version.

    1. You can download airbase-ng version rc2.2 at:

    http://www.datafilehost.com/d/43e85f87

In kali2 you will find airbase-ng located in the /usr/sbin folder

    type:

    locate airbase-ng

Rename the /usr/sbin/airbase-ng rc2.3 version to airbase-ng.orig ie airbase-ng original

NOW Copy the rc2.2 airbase-ng version to the /usr/sbin/ folder

    Type

    chmod 755 /usr/sbin/airbase-ng

If anything does not work just erase the rc2.2 version and rename airbaase-ng.orig back to airbase-ng

This is a aircrack-ng problem not a kali-linux bug. Currently the only known solution is to downgrade aircrack-ng to aircrack-ng 1.2rc2

Thanks for the info, mmusket33. I haven't been following the aircrack-ng forums, so this is news to me.

I assume the aircrack-ng team will get this problem resolved.

I'd check your wi-fi card against the list of compatible cards, to make sure it is known to work properly with the aircrack-ng suite.
