Kali 2 Something goes wrong

I was trying to use kali live and I am facing this error even after installing on vm same error.

I tried these commands

apt-get install x-window-system
apt-get update
apt-get install xorg
startx

but I am still facing this error.

I reinstall my vm also still no affect.

I have the same problem when I migrate from Kali sana 2.0 to Rolling version , but I find no solution about it :/

i had this same problem which I was able to fix very simply. however, I am not using vm, kali is my main OS.

what i did was in grub, go to the advanced options for kali, from there load it in recovery mode and update, upgrade and dist-upgrade the system. this fixed it.
