Upgrading to Rolling? Turn your screen lock off first!

This happened to me on 2 machines. If you start the upgrade and your screen locks you won't be able to get back in. Yours might work, 2 of mine didn't.

What Did you do to resolve?

I followed steps to the T and everything appeared to go well, replacing to the rolling repository, and then I followed the Nvidia steps and it crashed.

It rebooted and then said Oh No something went wrong with a grey screen. I rebooted after trying to logout out and it wouldnt let me.
just keep going back to the grey screen saying something went wrong, to logout but loops.

I had to DD back to 2.0 and redo the whole upgrade.

    Hi AWV,

So were any of your steps changed during the installation process? I see there are allot of unstable packages ranging from urgency medium.

I did change a few of my steps during the process.

instead of standalone, i selected inetd.

obviously I selected "no" for non root users to access wireshark.

instead of the auto-restart by selecting yes, I selected "no" so I can see what errors or changes appeared.

at this point the icon toolbar dissapeared during the setting up process which I believe is normal.

I then rebooted my system before going on to the next process of the next three steps:

    sed 's/quiet/quiet nouveau.modeset=0/g' -i /etc/default/grub
    update-grub
    reboot

This is where I feel in my two systems broke, there was a point of no return they both did the exact same thing stating "Oh No something went wrong" then has a icon "Logout" which does not allow you to logout.

I am at this point and halting because it appears everything is working.

"Would" anyone suggest doing an "apt-get autoclean" at this point then proceeding?

    Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Sorry for late reply. I took defaults in the install.
