Headphones don't work on Kali 2.0

I did my homework and found nothing on the web. I'm sure it's not a hardware issue since my headphones work perfectly fine when running Windows. Does anyone have a fix for this? I'm trying to make Kali Linux my primary OS, but small issues like this one always keep bringing me back to Windows unfortunately.

Have you checked your audio settings, maybe its muted? does audio even work on your kali? If you have sound but your headphones don't work then I'm not sure. Usually its the volume settings(ie: muted/zero volume). You could also try kali 2016.1 and see if it would work then.

No it's not muted, and I have the latest version of Kali installed.
