I started playing around with JtR 1.08 and the built in Kali GUI for it, Johnnie. When using Johnnie and trying to run it for a password encrypted RAR file, Johnnie crashes. I am pretty sure I have installed all the dependencies since I can manually run rar2john and ./john against the created hashes file. Any thoughts on how to stop Johnnie from crashing? It is pointing to the correct location for the ./john file

Secondly, I have an 8 core processor and an Nvidia CUDA GPU, yet, I am only able to run approximately 203.8 passwords per second, how can I speed things up? At this rate, I will be dead before I can crack this file. I am running Kali 2016 on a standalone PC. It seems to run faster when I run it in a VM which makes no sense.
