Gnome tweak tool at a loss

It all started when i messed up and forced my pc to do a hard reset as Kali Linux was in the process of shutting down. After i rebooted i noticed that gnome tweak tool has not applied my set icons so they just look like the default icons. I also took notice of my theme. As i tried changing the theme nothing happened gnome tweak tool did not change anything visibly. The final observation was just after boot my mouse cursor was no where to be found granted my mouse still worked however there was no icon untill about 5 min after boot when it magically appeared.

I can usually fix these problems myself and i have fixed this one before however i can't seem to find the solution i used last time.

Any help would be appreciated whether it works for me or not.

Update: I managed to fix the problem it happened to be my headset which just before the incident i plugged into a usb 3.0 port...that was it that was the problem i plugged it into a 2.0 and everything started working perfectly.
