MTeams has seen this problem on six(6) installs of Kali-Linux 2016 R. All the installs were on different computers. A AWUSO36H model was used in every case but the physical devices were different. All were i386 installs.

After a Harddrive or persistent usb install of kali 2016 R the OS was connected to the internet thru a AWUSO36H device. In every case the computer was unable to download any information. To update and upgrade the internal wifi device had to be used.

Each internal wifi was different so the only common thread is the AWUSO36H USB Device. The download would start and then fail.

The sources page was not the problem for as soon as the AWUSO36H was unplugged the PCI internal wifi device was able to obtain the updates and upgrades successfully.
