Whats your favourite / favorite tools?

First the favourite / favorite is so people searching using either US or UK spelling can hopefully find the thread.

I'm thinking about building a custom kali live ISO but the thing thats always bothered me about is that there is so many tools in Kali some of which do the same thing as another tool. Like john the ripper vs hydra & aircrack -ng vs reaver. I want my kali live ISO to be kali without duplicate tools like 1 password cracker 1 tool for maintaining access. (its hydra on mine btw).

So tell me what are some of your favourite or most used tools as opposed to the others.

A very loaded question...depends on what I'm doing nmap is pretty much constant, along with metasploit, and recon-ng.

For wireless work, definitely aircrack-ng, pyrit, wash, reaver, and bully.

I've always liked the fact that Kali (and BackTrack, before that) packaged several tools which do the same thing. I never put my faith in the results of a single tool: always like to validate results using several tools. For example, if I see a WPS protected network with aircrack-ng, I'll validate that by using wash...or vice versa.

Burp & ZAP for Reconnaissance
Hydra for BF & Fuzzing
Rainbowtables or JTR for Hash cracking
Maltego and Nmap, Wireshark for network analyzing
Metasploit & Sploit for Exploitation

and Terminal :P with all above :P
