dpkg: error processing package fuse (--configure)

Hi, all. Very new to Kali. Installed the 64-bit Kali as a persistent encrypted USB, and everything is good, but when I ran apt update and apt upgrade I got the following error message at the end of the upgrade:

    Code:
    Reading changelogs... Done
    Preconfiguring packages ...
    Setting up fuse (2.9.5-1) ...
    update-initramfs: deferring update (trigger activated)
cp: target ‘/lib/live/mount/medium/live/vmlinuz.new’ is not a directory
dpkg: error processing package fuse (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
    Errors were encountered while processing:
     fuse
    E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
Can anyone tell me what steps I should take to fix this error?

Thanks, and looking forward to learning more about this OS.
