2012 nexus 7 turning itself off when screen sleeps ?

I've done a fresh install of nethunter on stock 5.1.1 rom but when the screen gos to sleep it will not come back on and I have to hold the power button for a few seconds before it will fire up again. is there a fix for this ?

i had same problem

what i did was

assign the power key to a function eg: assign that if you tap power key twice go to camera some thing like that

after assigning

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get upgrade

this seems to work for me
