    Question Maltegoce no longer runs

Maltego now shows up as Maltegoce

Running it i get errors - paste below

    Warning - could not install some modules: org.apache.commons.io - org.netbeans.InvalidException: Netigso: /usr/share/maltegoce/ide/modules/org-apache-commons-io.jar: Not found bundlerg.apache.commons.io org.apache.commons.lang - org.netbeans.InvalidException: Netigso: /usr/share/maltegoce/ide/modules/org-apache-commons-lang.jar: Not found bundlerg.apache.commons.lang

    Kali rolling
Have done apt-get update etc. and still no better

reading some parts of the forum, tried to do an update of Java
using java update to 1.8.0_73 and am still showing old version

    java version "1.7.0_95"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.6.4) (7u95-2.6.4-1~deb8u1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.95-b01, mixed mode)

Do i just need to persist with Java update? Or is there a different solution
    Can i reinstall Maltego somehow?

So I have done apt-get purge on maltego and then installed again, however the error persists
Anyone using maltego and have this error?

I also did a Java update, that made no difference
it appears to have associated itself with something incorrectly when I registered
So I will be trying this next

Delete your config directory, on linux it is under ~/.malteg/vx.x/config/ and windows (7) at C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\.maltego\vx.x\config) - this will reset your Maltego.

which is a fix for a different bug, though may be a fix, from here --

The delete config directory didn't work
I have uninstalled and re-installed twice now - no better

    to uninstall

apt-get purge maltegoce (or maltego / program name)

Take note of what uninstalls - for me; maltegoce maltego-teeth kali-linux-full

Run an update - no logical reason related to the above other than to ensure everything is up to date

    apt-get update && apt-get upgrade && apt-get dist-upgrade

    then

apt-get install maltegoce maltego-teeth kali-linux-full // Sub in your programs to be reinstalled

I rebooted between the update and the install stage
I tried to install only maltego and not maltego-teeth and kali-linux-full
    Same errors when running maltego

started looking at things such as removing netbeans, but its not installed?

on the backburner right now, so hope someone can find a fix

An ugly but working workaround was to remove all the maltego configuration directory :
    rm -rf /root/.config/maltego
Fortunately I didn't have any saved projects so it didn't cost me anything.
After it I started maltegoce and it worked like a charm

Ah, i will do that, I dont have any projects saved, so wont be an issue
I had thought that doing apt-get purge removed all program and config?

    cheers

Has anybody managed to fix this yet?

I've rebuilt and replicated the issue after the apt-get dist-upgrade.

Interestingly, now vmware player doesn't work, and neither does theharvester - it fails at the bing stage and returns to the prompt..?
