Kali pi 3 and 7" screen please help

I've read all different comments and followed videos and can't get screen to work with pi, if I connect upto my tv and reboot it will display on to fine and then if I leave switched on and remove hdmi and put into the 7" screen it comes on but with not the correct resolution, if pi is off and pulled into 7" screen and I turn on all I get is a white line. If someone could please help that would be great also new to the pi and Linux games but ok with computers and commands but please try and explain in easy forum as been on this all day and no further joy thanks Kirk

I have the same issue. I have kali on a 32 GB card that I used gparted to give all the space to kali. It is a Edeuino 7 inch touch screen with HDMI. From what i have read I would need to edit the /boot/config.txt file to get it to work. Problem is there is no /boot/config.txt file on kali. Any help would be welcome
