Kali 2016.1, alfa awuso51nh and aircrack-ng?

I've got Kali 2016.1 running on my Surface Pro 2 and using Alfa AWUSO51NH v2 for pen testing (rt3572). I'm able to put into monitor mode just fine using
airmon-ng start wlan0. It says monitor mode is activated and station mode is deactivated. When I single out a populated list of routers, no APs show up. I've also tried airmon-ng check kill at the beginning of the process. Also trying to figure out how to get the card to read 5G as well.

Any ideas?

Having a rough day at the office? I changed it for you and I think you can figure out that I wasn't using caps in terminal.

ok...this is how I use aircrack-ng
airmon-ng check kill.....airmon-ng start wlan2 1
new terminal...airodump-ng -c 1 -a wlan2mon...bottom half should show BSSID with connected STATION...at least 3 or 4
new terminal...airodump-ng -c 1 --bssid 00:11:22:33:44:55 -w /home/Bee1/Desktop/capture/one.cap wlan2mon
new terminal...aireplay-ng -0 7 -a 00:11:22:33:44:55 -c 55:44:33:22:11 wlan2mon
if all goes well...captured handshake in one.cap o ready for deauth attack etc

I have the same Adapter Alfa AWUSO51NH v2. I ran into the same problems. It seemed unstable at first but figured it out!

Also, I would run this adapter in VMware instead of Virtualbox. I had all kinds of issues in Virtualbox.

To view 5GHz Wifi type: airodump-ng <the name of your interface> --band abg
